Hi David,
That’s a really common question. 2 things…
The thing about this SPECIFIC business is that people sometimes say, “I can help other people figure this stuff out but I can’t figure out what I love to do.” But if you are gifted at helping other people see possibilities and generate ideas – than THAT is your gift! So you DID figure it out.
2. I don’t expect the people taking this course to necessarily be business savvy already. That’s why I packed in so many marketing tools to help people over that hump. I even provide ready-to-go marketing copy that you can just cut and paste into a web site plus short easy video tutorials on everything from setting up a blog to registering a domain name.
And to be clear — as an Outside the Job Box Consultant your clients are not looking for you to make them successful — they are looking for ideas on how they can turn the things they love to do into income. Think of it as a career consultant for people who want to do their own thing. If you went to a traditional career consultant and they suggested you go into accounting or engineering you wouldn’t expect them to make sure you succeeded at it – you’re paying them to help you sort out your career options.
I hope this makes sense… I’m rushing as the phone has been ringing off the hook since we opened up the registration process for this course and I need to return 6 calls! What a day — exciting but full!

I noticed all the people in the group pictures are women. What percentage of men do you have taking your course? What percentage of the women have partners or spouces that take your course?

Hi Christie,
That’s a great question. On average, about 10% of my students tend to be men. In part, I believe this is a reflection of the demographics of my core followers and, in part, women are more apt to focus on finding work that has meaning and satisfaction. I think men feel more pressure to “suck it up” – even if their job is killing them, which is sad.
