Concerns Regarding Russell Brunson's Micro-Continuity Program/Offer

Note from Valerie: I received the following comments from two fellow dreamers about Russell Brunson’s Micro-Continuity Program on my Facebook account and wanted to address it in a broader format as I’m sure others may share the same concerns and I feel this is important enough for everyone to see/view and was limited in the amount of information I could post at Facebook.

COMMENTS I RECEIVED:

Michele Eaton – I have been trying to reach Russell as I am being charged on my bank account for things I did not order … don’t know what the charges are. No luck through his website “help”. Can you help please???

Perle Champion – I was charged as well for $97 for things I did not authorize. After contesting charges w/my credit card company, I complained to Brunsen via email (support@dotcomsecrets.com) as it is the only way I could get in touch. Received an apology and excuse and assurance that my money was being refunded. Disappointed that Val would recommend someone like this.

MY RESPONSE:

Hi Michele and Perle,

Since you both wrote about your experience with Russell Brunson’s Micro-Continuity program, I hope you don’t mind me addressing you together. I’d like to offer an apology on two fronts.

But first I need to say very clearly that I have seen Russell’s program and heard him speak now twice. I believe Russell has a GREAT product that is of tremendous benefit to anyone who wants to start an online business using his micro-continuity model.

I am selective about who I recommend and always intend for the experience to be positive. Having said that…

First, I’m sorry you missed the information that Russell includes whenever anyone signs up to receive their free MP3 player through his site. This is the one you received that came fully loaded with hours of valuable training content which others have paid, and this is no exaggeration, thousands of dollars to receive (I know because I’m looking at it sitting on my shelf and I paid $2,000 for it).

The MP3 player and training was free – the customer paid only shipping and handling.

Along with the free MP3 player came a 14 day free trial in Russell’s coaching program. Since the coaching was delivered via email, the trial membership began the moment you signed up.

As with all free trial programs, the terms are that you need to cancel before the trial period, otherwise you will be charged for future months of coaching on your credit card.

As I said, I’m truly sorry that the initial trial membership, and therefore the charge, came as a surprise to you. The terms were stated in the introductory video as well as on the checkout page. I understand it may be easy to forget after you’ve made a purchase – but they were there and there was no deception on any level.

Second, I am fanatical about good customer service. And as much as I like Russell and his training, I have to agree that the customer service aspect of Russell’s operation is lacking.

So I asked Lisa to check to see if there is an easier way to cancel this membership (which anyone can do at anytime) and she found you can go to http://CancelMyAccountNow.com

In the future, please feel free to come directly to me at info@ChangingCourse.com. With rare exception I have a personal connection with any vendor I recommend and have interceded before with other service or product providers when there is either a simple misunderstanding on the part of the customer or a genuine customer service lapse on their part. In this case we had both.

Also, what people may not be aware of is that when you contest a charge with your credit card company, it is very costly to the vendor. There is a chargeback of over $100 and the company must fill out multiple forms which in 99.9% of the cases really just serves to jog the memory of the customer who had forgotten a purchase or did not recognize a vendor name. I know that’s certainly happened to me!

Instigating a charge back situation also jeopardize the businesses’ ability to continue with that credit card merchant. All of this can be avoided by calling the phone number under the charge on your bill or otherwise going directly to the business itself. If you happen to already be in business and accepting credit cards yourself, I know you will appreciate the position of the small business owner who has done nothing wrong but pays a price nonetheless.

Finally, thank you BOTH for taking the time to let me know your situation. All small business owners – or at least all small businesses owners who care about their customers as I do, want to know when things to wrong. It’s the only way to fix things. Again, in the future the best way to reach me directly is at info@ChangingCourse.com.

In summary, while I am disappointed in the customer service aspect, I continue to believe that Russell’s Micro-Continuity training is outstanding, I stand behind it, and I recommend it without reservation (http://ChangingCourse.com/recommends/micro-cont). As a reminder to anyone who takes advantage of the resources Russell gives away for free, please make sure to cancel your free trial membership should you not wish to continue or to incur charges.

Michele and Perle, I hope you found the hours of free training on your free MP3 player valuable and are putting it to good use to change course so you can finally start living the life you really want!

Thanks again for writing.

To your dreams,

As a small business owner, I commend you, Valerie, on your tackle response and honest truth about a customer and small business owner’s point of view. I have been on both sides and agree completely that a customer should contact the business prior to resorting to disputing the charge with their credit card company or bank. This is a costly and unnecessary process that hurts small business owners who is some cases have actually done nothing wrong. I am currently checking reviews and comments on Russell Brunson products in search of the “truth” of whether his information is worth studying or just a typical “hype”. This page won one point on the “truth” side. Thanks.

    Hi Loma,

Thank you for your comment. I take these matters very seriously and felt it was appropriate to share the full response with my audience. I’ve received numerous positive comments as well about Russell’s program and I’m eager to try it out myself!

I love the way you handled this Valerie. Very well done. Truth be told, there were NO hidden charges or misrepresentations from Russell Bruonson with his Micro Continuity program. I was actually impressed with how upfront he was and how many times he mentioned in the follow up information that one’s account would be charged for the continuity program.

It is challenging when someone orders a program and doesn’t read everything. Even if it is in plain site.

My recommendation to the folks who felt this had been done in a less than ethical way is to listen and watch again. I’m sure they would agree all was put on the table.

Just wanted to say that I read your blog quite frequently and I’m always amazed at some of the stuff people post here. But keep up the good work, it’s always interesting.
    See ya,

Personally the fact you published Michele and Perle’s full name and their private communication with you to illustrate a point about small business, and chargebacks is despicable.

Not only have you put their personal names out there, and I’ll bet you did not ask them for permission to do so, but it was completely un-necassary to do this.

I do customer support as a living, I handle thousand of support tickets every year and I would never even dream of publishing a complaint with a persons full name on a public web site or blog.

While your points are on the mark, the process and way you decided to get the information out there, and publically embarras these two individuals, is deplorable.

Greg, Who told you that FaceBook is a private blog? Any member of the public can read stuff there. Some times you do not even need to create an account to read the comments.

Also, the names are more than likely info that you would find on a phone book. Those costumers should have read what they were buying before they bought. But in this case, they did not even have too. Because is fully express on the videos. Nothing was hidden from them. I know because I have been on that page too.

Their stupidity cost honest business owners money. And I can see why they are not successful. When you go into a business… you need to eat and breath your business. You need to know the smallest details. If not you are doomed.

Those guys is obvious that did not bother to read because they are lazy. And lazy people can’t be in business. There is no place for them there.

I have been in different countries, and lazy people are unwanted everywhere I go.

I have never terminated anyone for reading or working hard.

Russell is one of the most honest man I have ever heard of. He spells everything out in black and white. He is a good business man. And he gives full free information; unlike others in his line of business. For what I see he thirsts for an honest buck and nothing else. His reputation is outstanding and in my book he is number one right now.

Your name has been made public information since the Clinton Administration in case you did not know.

So I agree with the person posting this here.

In no manner do I mean any disrespect to you Greg. I only believe and know, that your comment has no standing.

    Thank you.
